Who Else Wants To Know The Best Supplements for Building Muscles?

Building muscle is not as much of a challenge as many people think. People who work out consistently and eat a well-balanced diet that is high in protein will be able to get the body that they desire. Studies have shown that people who take supplements in conjunction with eating a good diet and working out get the best results. Some of the best muscle building supplements include: whey, fish oil, multivitamins and creatine.

Whey is one of the supplements that has been proven to be the most effective for muscle building. One scoop of whey contains about 25 grams of protein. For the best results, a person should try to ingest one or two scoops of whey each day. It can be mixed with either water or milk. Many health experts recommend taking fish oil because it helps promote heart health by helping the body maintain a healthy blood pressure and cholesterol.

Fish oil also helps burn fat. In order for the body to build muscle, it must burn fat. Many people cannot workout at the optimal intensity because of muscle soreness. Fish oil helps reduce that soreness so that people can get the most out of their training. People who are trying to build muscle should make sure that they add a multivitamin to their lifestyle. Multivitamins help promote restful sleep, helps boosts the function of the immune system and helps promote faster recovery.

Breathalyzer Accuracy – 5 Critical Breathalyzer Testing Mistakes And How To Avoid Them

Breathalyzers are designed to test a trace amount of alcohol in your breath. In order to test correctly and avoid dangerous inaccuracies it is important to understand some of the common testing process errors people make.

Mistake #1 Failing To Wait 20 Minutes After Your Last Sip Of Food or Alcohol (including mouth wash) Before Testing

When you take a sip of alcohol some of the residue remains in the lining of your mouth for 15 to 20 minutes. It takes that amount of time for the alcohol to be absorbed through your mouth lining and move into your blood stream.

You could conceivably take one sip of beer, immediately test with a breathalyzer and yield a result well over the legal limit (.08). The solution is to be sure to wait 20 minutes after eating or drinking before testing with any breathalyzer. If you are stopped by the police they are supposed to observe you for twenty minutes before breathalyzer testing so that they do not produce an inaccurate result due to the above issue.

Mistake #2 Not Blowing Hard Enough And Long Enough

Most better quality breathalyzers require a certain blow strength in order to deliver an accurate reading. You should take a reasonably deep breath and blow fairly hard until the breathalyzer signals that the test is complete (usually about 4 or 5 seconds).

Reiki – The Usui Method of Natural Healing

What is Reiki? Well, Reiki is the vital life force of the Universe. The Japanese meaning of the word Reiki is universal Life Force. With Rei meaning universal consciousness, and Ki meaning life force, energy. This energy is a conscious and intelligent force that streams through and nurtures all life on earth. Reiki stems from the infinite source of all there is and can only do good.

Spiritual energy may seem an enigmatic energy not easy for the mind to comprehend. Yet, the pull of gravity when you think about it is really just as enigmatic to the mind. Scientists still don’t really know what gravity is, even though all of us on earth experience its power all through our life.

Reiki was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui (1865 – 1926) after many years of investigating its Tibetan and Indian beginnings. The Usui Method of Natural Healing is a way of receiving and delivering Reiki energy.

The Reiki practitioner is just a conduit for the energy and does not pass on any personal energy or take in anyone else’s. The Reiki energy safeguards, invigorates both receiver and giver. The thing to remember is that the Reiki practitioner dose not heal the client, the practitioner only passes on the Reiki energy to help the client to set in motion their own healing powers.

The Usui Reiki method of natural healing is generally taught in three levels. At the first level you will be attuned to the Reiki energy, allowing you to use it for treating others as well as for self-healing.

Eating Disorders: Signs of Recovery From Anorexia

What does recovery from anorexia look like? We talk a lot about the signs and symptoms of anorexia but don’t spend enough time exploring recovery.

Tonight I challenged myself to sit down and think of as many indicators of recovery that I could and make a list. These are in no particular order and there are probably more. Here is the list and I hope it helps.

• Weight restored (within a weight range established by treatment team)
• Is menstruating naturally
• No obsessive thoughts about food, weight, a number on a scale
• Can eat anything you put in front of her (pre-eating disorder behavior)
• Can exercise and get enough calories in to maintain her weight
• Can make her own food decisions and maintain her weight
• Can allow others to choose restaurant without prior notice, order for herself from the menu and eat with no anxiety
• Has preferences but no forbidden or dangerous foods (pre-eating disorder preferences)
• Displays no ritualistic behavior around food (move food around on plate, cut meat into tiny bites)
• Able to eat normally without you present like at school or with friends
• Has re-established friendships and is back on track socially
• Does not feel compelled to compensate in some way when she eats a healthy amount of food or calories
• Does not purge
• Does not over-exercise
• Does not argue or negotiate about food
• Able to eat at different times during the day (no rigidity as to times)
• Able to eat a variety of foods instead of relying on one or two meals she is comfortable with (pre-eating disorder behavior)
• Feels as good about herself if not better than other girls her age (few women ever feel completely satisfied with their appearance so we would not expect that of her)
• Able to see her body accurately (thighs or arms not larger than they are for example)
• Decrease of depression and anxiety related to lack of nutrition, food, obsessive thoughts; fewer mood swings other than “normal” adolescence
• Able to have a voice and put words to thoughts and feelings that perhaps she was not able to before the eating disorder
• Enjoys activities and events where food is present
• Able to identify red flags that might signal she is vulnerable to relapse
• Able to ask for help and make progress regarding perfectionism if present

Childhood Obesity – What Parents Can Do About It

If you’re like me, you’re tired of hearing how bad our huge waistlines are and that our kids are too fat. The fact that it’s true makes it even more annoying. It’s time to lose the negative and find some positives. Here are some of my ideas:

1) Go Play: Seriously. Go play, with your kids. Get out the bat and ball, pick up the roller blades and get moving as a family. Most aspects of play are also exercise, running bases in a softball field, skating down the sidewalk with the kids and going for long family bike rides can bring you closer as a family, lift your spirits and… help you get in shape.

2) Good Food: Good tasting food doesn’t have to be bad for you. You may need to experiment to find the right mix, but it’s possible. We’ve developed a couple of habits that make healthy eating fun and natural. One is sort of odd, but works really well. We lightly steam broccoli (just enough that it doesn’t feel like you’re chewing on a twig) then eat it as is like popcorn.

Another is an appetizer platter. Fruit in season, favorite vegetables, whole grain pretzels and other tasty foods are served before dinner or during the evening movie time. This does a couple of things quite painlessly. The first is that it helps your family get the fruits, veggies and whole grains they need to be healthy and second it dulls the appetite a little so that heavier foods aren’t as desirable. I’ve found that if you switch around the various components so the tray doesn’t get old, it can be a very useful way of having good food safely.
